Asian American Coalition of Chicago recognizes Gladson Varghese

Gladson Varghese, president of the American Association of Engineers of Indian Origin, was awarded the 2023 Exemplary Community Service Award recently by the Asian American Coalition of Chicago. He was recognized for his “Outstanding Leadership and dedicated service to the Indian Community.”

The annual gala of AACC was held at Hyatt Regency Hotel in Rosemont. IL, Feb. 18.

A press release from Varghese noted that the event was attended by several luminaries and special guests including Governor J.B. Pritzker, former Governor Pat Quinn, U.S Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Illinois, State Senators, Mayors, political Leaders, company executives, entrepreneurs, diplomats from various Asian countries and around 1,000 guests.

The Nomination Board from 10 different countries including Japan, China, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Korea and Thailand voted for selecting the Nominee.  Traditionally at the AACC’s Annual Gala one outstanding individual is recognized in this category.

Gladson Varghese is also the Chairman of the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin-Chicago Chapter (GOPIO Chicago). He served in the Executive Board of several  Indian associations and has been part of several charity organizations.

He did his Masters in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA in Operations Management from Purdue University. He has been working as the President of U.S Techtronics and Divisional Director of GE.

Varghese has been serving at the Structural Engineering Board of Illinois for the last 9 years, appointed by the Governor.

The AACC’s Exemplary Community Service Award was established to recognize an individual who has distinguished themselves through outstanding academic achievement and contributions to the humanity at large and Asian American community in particular. The candidate for the Exemplary Community Service Award is an individual in the United States of America (USA).

Annually, a different Asian community takes turns playing host of the AACC Gala, the largest event for the Asian American Community in the Greater Chicago area, the press release said. The Annual Gala and Award night concluded after Diner and entertainment from various Asian countries.

According to its website, the Asian American Coalition of Chicago (AACChicago.org) founded in 1983, is represented by more than 16 cultures including the Bangladeshi, Burmese, Cambodian, Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Laotian, Malaysian, Nepalese, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Thai, and Vietnamese American communities.
